Hello,

sometimes it is necessary to discuss some things before or while working on a ticket. If this targets a team member which is not yet involved in the ticket it gets a bit complicated, because the user does not know that his help is needed.

We solve this now be assigning the ticket to the "new" user. This is, however, bad habit since the tickets gets messed up. I know, we could add the person as a watcher but this is something the user himself need to decided.

There is a pretty simple solution to the problem: Just notify a user whenever he is mentioned. It is more the common to address the person in the text e.g.

@ken Do you have the money?
@adam Did you buy the licence?

If this is implemented in the editor, every module of Codebase could benefit from this function.

Thanks,
Daniel

  • Good thought, @jack (just kidding …)

I think this highly depends on the user interface.

1.) Writing a text and mentioning another user: the UI needs to provide some kind of autocompletion, so when I am starting to type @"dan" it will suggest @"daniel w (daniel@keksbox.com)" and "@"dan b (dan@brown.com)"
2.) When reading the text, showing the name and initials is pretty fine. One could add mouse-over hints with the mail address so you can find out who it really was if there is more than one person with the same name.
