Real supports for companies

Currently 'company' is just a text field on contact details and not 'real' relation to any company. Ie if company name changes, I need to update each of the contact of that company. This makes it 'risky' to use features like contact center ticket sharing (all people from same company can see each others tickets).
Is there coming full support for companies - ie. possibility to add company and then choose that which company a contact belongs to? Also things like SLA overdrive are much more useful (at least on our case) on company level than on individual contact.
